After completing my Internship at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital (CHBAH) and my Community Service at the Klerksdorp/Tshepong Hospital Complex, and obtaining my Diploma in Anaesthesia I joined a busy Emergency Medicine Practice in Johannesburg for two years.
Thereafter, the wanderlust hit and I decided to join Princess Cruises as a cruise ship doctor, eventually being promoted to the position of Senior Doctor. Little did I know, this would involve living and practicing in a completely different environment to land. Working with severely limited resources and with a multinational crew forced me to adapt my medical practice, and in the process I learnt a lot more about medicine and myself. One of the greatest pleasures of this job was the travel opportunity and I was able to visit more than 40 different countries over the course of those four years.
I came back to my roots working as a medical officer in the CHBAH Intensive Care Unit as the COVID pandemic hit. I then worked in a step down facility for a year before joining the incredible team at Epione Health Village in Rosebank.
