Built to fix something
broken.

A short history of why Epione exists, how the model works, and who's building it.

Healthcare shouldn't be this hard to hold together.

Across Africa, good care too often means starting from scratch at every door: a GP who doesn't see your test results, a specialist who doesn't see your GP's notes, a pharmacy that doesn't know what either of them prescribed. Epione Health Villages exists to close those gaps: driving equitable access to inclusive, tech-enabled healthcare, built around the patient rather than around the paperwork.

Founded in 2016, Epione is a partnership between clinicians and healthcare operators to establish, own and operate tech-enabled healthcare facilities across primary care and day hospitals. Its mission is to enable clinicians to meet our patients' needs, with a vision to become the largest integrated healthcare provider in Africa.

Built to replicate, not just to open once.

The same Village, every time
Rosebank is open now, with a healthy pipeline of new Villages planned over the next five years, each carrying the same connected model to a new community, rather than reinventing it.
Asset-light by design
We partner with property developers on long-term leases, so a new Village can open without slowing down.
Guided by experienced hands
Supported by advisors across healthcare, finance and property, alongside the clinical and technology leadership below.
Built for the continent
The goal isn't one Village. It's a model that can carry equitable, tech-enabled healthcare across Africa.

What actually makes it a Village.

“Village” isn't just a name for the building. It's how the people inside it work.

Weekly roundtables, not a hallway chat
Our GPs and specialists meet every week to discuss shared patients, so a second opinion comes from a colleague who already knows your case, not a cold referral.
We refer out, on purpose
Physiotherapy, biokinetics and other allied care aren't on-site by design. We work with a trusted network of practitioners we know, so you're referred somewhere considered, not left to search alone.
Built to teach, not just treat
As the Village grows, we're building an academic culture alongside the clinical one, with mentorship for the next generation of clinicians in mind.

Designed to feel like part of the neighbourhood, not a hospital.

Every Village is uniquely designed, built and furnished using local artisans, so it feels less like a waiting room and more like somewhere you'd want to be.

A green Village, not just a healthy one.

Sustainability is part of how each Village is run, not an afterthought: from what we buy, to what we recycle, to how we use energy.

Less single-use plastic
Reducing single-use plastics across each Village, with recycling built into daily operations rather than left to individual effort.
Energy-efficient by design
LED lighting and smart energy monitoring across our facilities, built in from the first fit-out rather than retrofitted later.
Held to it, continuously
Green procurement and regular environmental audits, so sustainable practice stays a habit for our staff and patients, not a one-off pledge.
