Epione Health Villages is a multi-specialty day hospital, GPs with special interests and associated primary care providers, pharmacy and diagnostics, all sharing a unique health record and care pathway for each patient. The name comes from Epione, the Greek goddess of the soothing of pain. It's pronounced eh-pee-OH-nee (rhymes with “peony”).
Through epione.net, or by calling the Rosebank Village directly on 011 880 5349. Existing patients manage bookings, prescriptions and referrals through epione.net.
It means your GP isn't working alone. Primary care, day hospital, pharmacy, diagnostics, dental and optometry all sit under one roof, with weekly interdisciplinary roundtables so a second opinion or referral is rarely more than a conversation away.
Epione Health Village Rosebank (5 Glenhove Road, Melrose Estate, Johannesburg, 2196) is open now. We have a healthy pipeline of new Villages planned over the next five years; details will be added here once confirmed.
Not yet. Rosebank is currently our only Village, and every patient's care is connected through it, so there's no need to pick between locations. As we grow, each new Village will connect to the same record and the same model, and we'll confirm each one here first.
Usually your GP coordinates this as part of the Village model. Raise it at your appointment and they'll arrange the right next step, often with someone in the same building.
Not on-site, by design. Epione focuses on primary care, day hospital, pharmacy, diagnostics, dental and optometry, all sharing one record. For physiotherapy, biokinetics and similar allied care, your GP refers you to a trusted network of practitioners we work with, rather than adding services that would dilute what's under one roof.
Both are available through epione.net, which also handles booking and referrals for existing patients.
It now runs independently as ECHI, separate from Epione Health Villages. [echi.co.za, placeholder link].
